Fairbanks Meteor

Built in 1997, the Fairbanks Meteor is 18.5’ long and is powered by a 1938 Red Wing Meteor. It is African mahogany plywood and Honduras mahogany with castings custom made by David Berg and Jim Ross. The design is based on the 1902 race boat the Fairbanks No. 2, possibly the original drake tail launch, which were popular work boats in New England.  The Fairbanks Meteor has the same beam dimensions as the Fairbanks No. 2 and is similar in profile, but is only half the length of the original design.
